WES institute
WES is committed to providing high quality services to its clients. At WES, high quality and effective treatment is defined as successful clinical engagement and clinical competence. Towards clinical competence, a primary goal of the organization is to have a well-equipped clinical workforce that uses treatment models that are innovative, evidenced based and/or promising.
In line with this, WES has created an avenue of life-long learning and continuing education for its clinical staff, the WES Institue. On an annual basis, the institute comes to life with the mobilization of the resources of the clinical leadership of the organization to provide didactic lectures, symposia, debates and clinical demonstration in areas of current thinking in the field. The institute usually takes place in late summer and brings together all clinical staff. Internal and relevant external faculties are invited to talk about their areas of expertise and update our clinical staff on new development in community mental health and psychiatry. Past topics included:
- Youth violence
- Self esteem & racial identity development of African American females
- Clinical manifestations of substance abuse
- Assessment & treatment of general anxiety disorder
